Cahokia Indian mounds

These mounds, located in Collinsville, IL near St. Louis, were built by Native American tribes around 1100 or so. The mounds were used as burial places, ceremonial places, and sites for the residences of important people. More information about the mounds is available at www.cahokiamounds.com
